MG Windsor EV launched - All Details here

MG Motor India has launched

its latest electric vehicle, the Windsor, with introductory prices starting at Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom). This marks MG's third electric offering in the country, joining the ZS EV and Comet EV in the company's lineup.

The MG Windsor is a compact electric crossover that sits between the Comet EV and ZS EV in MG's Indian portfolio. It features a sleek, minimalist design with connected LED lighting, 18-inch alloy wheels, and flush door handles. The vehicle's dimensions place it in the same size category as popular compact SUVs like the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos, measuring 4,295mm in length, 1,850mm in width, and 1,677mm in height.

Powering the Windsor is a 38 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack, paired with an electric motor producing 136 PS of power and 200 Nm of torque. MG claims a range of 331 km on a single charge. The vehicle supports DC fast charging, allowing it to be charged in 40 minutes.

One of the most notable aspects of the Windsor's launch is MG's introduction of a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) ownership model. Under this program, customers pay only Rs 3.5 per kilometer for battery usage, which MG claims is 40% of the fuel costs of a comparable internal combustion engine vehicle. This innovative approach aims to make the Windsor more accessible by reducing upfront costs.

The interior of the Windsor boasts several premium features, including a 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system, an 8.8-inch digital driver's display, and a panoramic glass roof. A standout feature is the second-row seating, which can recline up to 135 degrees, offering what MG calls a "Business class seating experience".

MG is offering the Windsor in three variants - Excite, Exclusive, and Essence - across four color options. The company is providing several incentives for early adopters, including free public charging for one year and a lifetime warranty on the battery pack for first owners.

Bookings for the MG Windsor will commence on October 3, with deliveries scheduled to begin on October 12. With its competitive pricing and innovative features, the Windsor EV is poised to challenge established players in the electric vehicle market, including the Tata Nexon EV, Mahindra XUV400 EV, and the upcoming Tata Curvv EV.
